5 Years Old

My Xanga turned 5 on Friday.

But since I've moved to Tumblr, I wasn't here to say it.

So, once again, I've moved!

Oh, by the way

I'm blogging more on Tumblr now:

I'm still logging in here, but not posting as much anymore. I'm not leaving! I've been here for almost 5 years, so why leave?

Operating, Generating

New life! New life! As said by Depeche Mode in the song New Life. Or in this case, new eating habits.

My mom’s extreme high blood pressure episode was a scare, so since then she has been eating food very low in sodium content. I decided to follow the low sodium thing too to see how it was. Since then, I am no longer as thirsty, I get full faster, and my hunger has diminished. Low sodium food isn’t bad as you would think. I love my cheese, so cheese seemed like a hard thing to leave off the sandwiches I take with me when I’m out and about at college/work. I got low sodium, reduced fat cheese and it tasted exactly the same as regular cheese, couldn’t even tell the difference. I’m also taking multi-vitamins now for increased wellness. The nutritionist at my doctor’s office is going to be proud of me (best part is that he gives FREE consultation, unlim. appointments, score.)

Oh, and I lost 4 pounds without even suffering. This new way of eating is great. I’m not exactly dieting, just eating better. It’s only been like 2 weeks and I already feel better.

Johnny Thunders, my bass, was stolen on November 13th 2008. Someone, or some people, broke into the townhouse where I lived and tore up my room, taking my camera, laptop, jar of change, and many other things from the rest of the place. When I looked across my room and saw my bass stand empty, that’s when I started to cry. I miss him. My first bass, you don’t forget something like that.

And if you, the thief, or thieves are reading, I HOPE THAT WHEN YOU PLAY HIM ALL THE STRINGS POP AND HIT YOU RIGHT IN THE EYES, YOU GIANT WORTHLESS PIECE[S] OF SH*T.

Your Blog Could Be Here

This is my father. He looks much older than when I saw him 3 months ago. He’s leaving on Tuesday and will be back sometime in 2011.

I spent my morning studying until it was time for the first annual barbecue at the company I volunteer for. It was fun, the food was great, and I hadn’t eaten anything the whole day since I knew there’d be plenty of food there. I get full fast, barely finished my plate and then I had a bit of fruit salad to stay healthy.

When I got home, I went to the gym but I couldn’t do my full workout since my foot started acting up. I’m flatfooted, I virtually have NO arches, so I wear insoles in my shoes because without them, walking hurts. Anyway, when my insoles wear out, I can’t do a lot and I have to buy new ones, so that’s what I’ll do tomorrow when I get off from college. Being without one foot to function, I had to spend my workout on a stationery bike, which is the most boring thing ever invented. That’s like a car that stays parked. Pointless. But once again, OH WELL.

If you live in Houston, you should definitely try Mango Tango. It’s a little frozen yogurt place on Fry and Morton. Only 100 calories for the small yogurt.

Frozen strawberry yogurt, kiwis, apples, and dark chocolate chips = TASTEGASM.

I’m slowly teaching myself Russian. This is my name in Russian: Дарлин Кампус

It’s going to take a while for me to actually remember that, even longer for me to write it out.

You plan things in life and sometimes, they don’t go as planned. For example:

Yesterday, I was supposed to do the following:

1. Take mom to work

2. Go to the library to give back some books

3. Go to another library and pick up my requested items

4. Go to the gym for 2 hours.

5. Eat lunch

6. Clean up a bit

7. Pick up mom from work

8. Put on my costume

9. Go to the Halloween party I was invited to

1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 happened. After I ate lunch, I didn’t feel so good. I think I may have worked out too much and I got a pounding pain in my right temple that gave me nausea. I really wanted to go to the party but I figured I didn’t want to risk puking on some people. Still though :(

Today, I was supposed to:

1. Go to the gym

2. Go to the giant book sale near where I live

3. Go to that second library and pick up my requested items

4. Visit my cousin at the cemetery (his birthday was a few days ago, he would’ve been 32. He died of brain cancer in the late 1990s).

5. Grocery shop

6. Eat dinner

7. Work on things for school

8. Go see the Halloween presentation of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, as I’ve been doing since 9th grade

3,5,6, and 7 happened. My mom woke me up at 10 am, telling me she felt sick. She took her blood pressure and it was 183/93, which is hypertension stage II. I took her to the doctor’s office but since she was the last appointment, you could tell the doctor and nurses were only concerned about going home. She was sent home, since 183/93 really ‘ain’t that bad’.

“Oh, that’s just a little high, you’re fine.”

Instead of taking her home, I took her my uncle’s and her blood pressure rose to 183/108 but since he studied medicine in Ecuador, he knew what to do. As for myself, I was already in tears and about to take her to the ER. Too high can lead to heart failure, among other things. Within 3 hours of relaxation, her pressure went down to 144/79. Whew! She’ll be on rest until Tuesday. I’m so glad she’s okay now. She doesn’t have health insurance, and she’s a cancer survivor, so whenever she’s not feeling well, I always lose my mind. I have health insurance through my university, so it costs me $10 to see a doctor. It costs her $60+ to see a doctor. Today it cost her $60, when she went in July, it cost her $200. I feel guilty that I have insurance and she doesn’t. She needs it more than I do. Furthermore, I can’t imagine life without her. My father, well, I’ve been living without him for 4 years and it’s not like he was ever a big part of my life. He only calls me when he needs something, like a ride or a favor. My mom means so much to me.

Instead of going out like I planned tonight, I’m staying in with her, since today was a big scare, scarier than any haunted house on Halloween. I only ate one meal today too, and I’m not even hungry. I think I’ll go drink some relaxation tea or something now.
